a little help to love you...

Meditation to Conquer Self Animosity

"This meditation conquers the state of self-animosity and gives you the ability for constant consciousness in support of the core self."

Originally taught March, 1979 © 1979 YB Teachings, LLC

POSITION: Sit in an Easy Pose, with a light jalandhar bandh.
Maintain an alert attitude.

MUDRA: Relax the arms at the sides and raise the forearms up and  in toward the chest at the heart level. Draw the hands into fists, and  point the thumbs straight up toward the sky. Press the fists together  in such a manner that the thumbs and fists are touching. The palms are toward each other. This meditation requires the upper torso to be held straight, without rocking back and forth.

EYE POSITION: Fix the eyes at the tip of the nose.

There is no required mantra other than the subtle sound of the breath.

BREATH:

Inhale through the nose.
Exhale completely through the mouth.
Inhale deeply and smoothly through the mouth.
Exhale through the nose.

TIME: Continue for 3 minutes. Gradually build the time to 11 minutes. Practice daily, but do not exceed 22 minutes in any one session.

TO END: Inhale and stretch the arms up over the head. Keep the stretched position as you take 3 more deep breaths. Relax.

Mantra:

There is no required mantra other than the subtle sound of the breath.

COMMENTS
There are no enemies. There are challenges to our creativity. The greatest enemy is the self. Self-defeating activity and self-animosity occur where we do not accept ourselves. We instinctively reject self-confirmed continuity. We will oppose our own success and accomplishment just to break with steadiness. That break is the assertion of ego: an attempt at marking and possessing something in Time and Space. This self-animosity distracts us from the real gift of human life: the capacity to confront and experience the self in relationship to the Unknown Infinity of our Self. This meditation conquers the state of self-animosity and gives you the ability for constant consciousness in support of the core self.

white rose...

purity
my heart is ever pure, holding tight with only good intentions

innocence
I have never been here before, I dont know my way around, I am making mistakes

honor
true to you, my word, my love, your obligations

reverence
listening to my spirit, knowing when to let go, when to take care
of me
of you
of us

silence
time to be still, to be quiet

and
to trust

earth day...

today is a day to wiggle your toes in the sand
walk barefoot on the cool smooth grass
plant flowers and trees

today is a day to walk in nature
to tell the universe how thankful we are
for the wind, rain, sun, shade
the colors that decorate our world
the sunsets and sunrises

today is a glorious day
we are blessed with another waking moment
to take it all in
to live, to love and to be ever grateful for our earth and eachother

signs...

I received this beautiful necklace several weeks ago from my mom.
If you can't read it, it says NAMASTE. It is beams with loving energy and I wear it almost everyday.

About a week ago, I received an email from Soular Energy regarding a tid bit from Deepak Chopra:

The Sanskrit word namaste (pronounced nah-mah-STAY) means “The spirit in me honors the spirit in you.” Whenever you first make eye contact with another person, say “Namaste” silently to yourself. This is a way of acknowledging that the being there is the same as the being here.

When you do this, everything about you—your body language, your expression, and your tone—will be recognized by the other person at some profound level. Even though this greeting is silent, the other person will consciously or unconsciously register the respect implicit in your greeting. Practice this exercise for a few days, and see if you notice a difference in your interactions with other people.

I worked all weekend and thought this would be a perfect time to practice this exercise.
IT WORKED.
When a customer would cross our threshold, I would smile and say Namaste to myself before greeting them.
The experience was incredible and working all weekend was a complete joy.
Try it, you will be amazed.

Namaste.

mio grande amore...

you're the ping in my pong
i'm the dip, you're the chip
you're the bee, i'm the honey
i'm the light at the end of your tunnel
you're the missing piece to my puzzle
i'm the wave, you're the surfer
you're the skip in my step

cara mia, ti voglio bene

follow beauty...

"Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our necks before emperors. But today we kneel only to truth, follow only beauty, and obey only love."

roots...

texas discovery gardens, dallas, texas

the place where it all began for you
the place we call "back home"
familiar

you know it well
the cracks in the sidewalk that you use to play on
the gate that never closes exactly right

a window that leaks during heavy rains
that squeaky place in the floor in the hall upstairs

the time of day when the morning light shines just right on the kitchen table
anticipation of sunday lunch
the smells of good happenings coming from the kitchen
the sounds of dishes and pans and happy conversation

fried chicken, mashed potatoes
salad, english peas, cornbread, biscuits & gravy
sweet tea
honey and tabasco, if you please

roots
texas
home

young...

prom, photo by pete

young

everything is in this very moment
the smallest of hiccups
rock your entire world

your soul soars on newborn wings
ready to embark on this journey called life

get ready for a rollercoaster ride
prepare to take a few detours
let the airport loose your "baggage"

remember that your parents were human too
just trying to get along in this life
with issues of their own, you will never know about
let bygones be bygones

jump, even when you are scared
dont forget to bring along your inner child on this journey
believe in your own magic making ability

take care of you
never be reckless with others hearts
forgive those that are reckless with yours

my portal...

this is a mirror in my bathroom
my bathroom is a little teeninesy room separate from my dressing room
a hiding place of sorts it seems because of its size

this mirror
somewhat mystical in and of itself
the only thing that hangs on the walls of this wee room

there have been many times
looking at this mirror as something other than the apparent
it seems so clear to me

deeply nestled into the wall
although it hangs on a simple nail

a portal
opening to another side
a gateway to far away lands, magic carpet rides
storytellers and guitar players
lemonade and ginger snaps...

where does your portal lead?

magic...outside

lately I have found a sense of peace outside
the stillness in the dark and at the break of dawn

the way the world awakens
quietly, slowly
early morning, a sense of cleansing
a fresh start

the dark of night
sounds of crickets
our sleepy town, all tucked in
time to dream

my porch is my obsession
I arrange my pots, rocks, hanging plants, garden flag
then I rearrange
making it look just so

an incense holder cradles nag champa
cleansing those that wish to enter my sacred place
my wreath reflects the season

there use to be a time
not that long ago
that being outside was a last choice
now, I crave it

I believe in the magic of nature
the gypsies say to lie beneath a tree with a question in your mind
let yourself drift into a quiet wondering, keeping the question always in your mind
focus only on the wind moving through the leaves
it is said that the stirrings will resolve themselves into softly spoken words
the answer to your question

where do you find magic in nature?
